1/8/2008	Broadway Theater Project comes to MMPAC! On February 2nd and 3rd Frederick will be the site for a two-day musical theatre seminar headed by two of Broadway’s leading educators when the directors of The Broadway Theatre Project come to town. Mid Maryland Performing Arts Center will host Debra McWaters and Mary Walkley for two days of intensive master classes and audition technique work.  BTP Artistic Director McWaters’ credits include Choreographer for the Broadway and London productions of Fosse and Chicago.  She has worked with such masters as Chita Rivera and Ben Vereen and is a regular contributor to the Lincoln Center Stage.  Ms. Walkley serves as Musical Director for The Broadway Theatre Project.  She is a renowned vocal educator whose students have signed with major record labels and performed in countless Broadway shows. Area theatre and dance students are invited to attend this musical theatre workshop.  Classes will include jazz technique, theatre dance repertory, voice work, and audition technique.  Sunday’s schedule will include a mock Broadway audition.  Ms. McWaters will also be auditioning performers for a coveted slot in the 2008 Broadway Theatre Project in Tampa, Florida.  Last year, Frederick dancers Kellie Schweon and Anna Thompson joined 180 selected students from around the world for three weeks of training with Broadway’s best.  For registration information please call the Mid Maryland Performing Arts Center at (301) 694-5105.  Space is limited to 60 participants. 4/30/2007	Thank you to everyone who participated in Spring for the Arts to support arts education in schools. Great job to Bria Jahrling, who organized the performance as part of her senior graduation project. Check out photos in the photo gallery.
3/28/2007	Congratulations Dance FX! Students of MMPAC recently attended the Co. Dance Convention in Philadelphia, PA. All dances received a High Silver award. Tara Giangrande and Kaitlyn Dunshee won scholarships during a ballet audition to attend Co. Dance free of charge in the future. Great job!
3/9/2007	MMPAC Students Accepted to Broadway Theater Project: MMPAC has the distinct honor to announce the selection of three of its students into the prestigious Broadway Theatre Project.  Anna Thompson and Kellie Schweon have been selected to participate in this very intensive musical theatre program, while Bria Jahrling has been named as one of the 30 alternates to the program.   Held at the University of South Florida, the program brings together professionals from stage, screen and television to lead a select group of performers through twelve-hour days consisting of technique classes, lectures and rehearsals.  Instructors this year include Tony award winners Ben Vereen and Chita Rivera as well as Producer / Director Terrance Mann.  The three-week program culminates in a performance at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center for casting directors and agents as well as the public. We are indeed very proud of our dancers and we wish Anna and Kellie the very best.   Congratulations to all three of our performers!

11/9/2006	Congratulations Scholarship Winners!   Bria Jahrling, Kellie Schweon and Anna Thompson all brought home scholarships from this year's Maryland Council for Dance Festival. Great job!
