Annual Performance

The 2012 Annual Performance will take place at the Weinberg Center in downtown Frederick on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20. All current MMPAC students are invited to perform in this wonderful annual event which features each class as well as our resident student performing company - Dance FX.

Mandatory dress rehearsals take place on May 15 (Show A), May 16 (Show B), and May 17 (Show C) at the Weinberg Center.

Show A takes place May 19 at 1 pm; Show B takes place May 19 at 7 pm; and Show C takes place May 20 at 1 pm.

The performance handbook, outlining details of the event, will be available in February.

TICKETS

Tickets will go on sale at 9:00 am on April 14, 2012. Tickets can be purchased online thru the weinberg center website and at the Weinberg Center box office, located at 20 West Patrick Street, Frederick, MD. There will be no fax orders or phone orders accepted until the afternoon of the 9th. The box office is only authorized to sell up to twelve tickets per show to each patron on the first day of sales. This is to expedite the ticket line.

Prices:

Box office = $12.50 each

On-line = $12.50 + $1.50 per ticket service charge + $5.00 processing fee. This fee is charged by the online ticketing agency.

Are you coming to all three shows? Buy $12.50 tickets to Show A and Show B. Get your Show C tickets for $9.00 - more than a 25% discount! This discount cannot be honored online. The Weinberg Center’s online ticket program cannot manage this offer.

VOLUNTEER: Volunteers are a necessary component of our annual shows. Please watch for the sign-up sheets that will be posted for the Dress Rehearsals and Recitals. These will be located on the bulletin boards in both our Frederick and New Market studios.

NOT COME TO MMPAC during production week (May 16-22).

DRESS REHEARSAL PROCEDURES

Arrival:

• Please arrive at the Weinberg Center at your scheduled rehearsal time. We run on schedule, or slightly ahead!

• Students must report to dressing room check-in at the backstage entrance behind the Weinberg Center. The backstage entrance is located on the alley that runs behind the Weinberg Center. It connects Market Street (at Griff’s Restaurant) to Court Street (at the Courthouse & Firehall). The backstage doors are located in the middle of this alley.

• Students should arrive and depart in a cover-up to remain as professional as possible. Students must not walk around in costumes except backstage. (Dad’s button-down shirts work great as cover-ups.)

• Dancers should be in their first costume with hair and make-up done.

• Please carry all shoes in a dance bag. Do not wear your dance shoes on the street!

• No underwear, jewelry, gum, or nail polish during rehearsals and performances.

• Please label ALL costumes and accessories, including shoes, tights & cover-up. They will be checked in with your child if they have more than one number in a half.

• Parents must walk around to the front of the Weinberg and enter through the front lobby doors after dropping performers off. Parents are not allowed in the dressing rooms.

DISMISSAL:

• Students will be dismissed into the house through the door to the left of the stage after their dance. If students have multiple dances they may return to the dressing room as needed.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

• The house should remain quiet during rehearsal.

• Video-taping and photography are prohibited during the shows. However, you may use non-flash photography and videotape during the dress rehearsals.

• No eating, drinking or smoking in the theater. All food and drink must remain in the lobby.

• No tap shoes in the lobby. Please carry all dance shoes in a dance bag. Do not wear dance shoes outside.

• If you park on the street, remember the meters are active until 5:00 p.m. Hourly fees are in effect in the parking deck until 6 p.m. After that you will need to validate your parking deck ticket in any of the machines to exit.

• Please read the Weinberg Center Rules posted on the MMPAC bulletin board in the Weinberg Center lobby.

• Dinner packs are available for each rehearsal. They include a sub or sandwich, chips, and a drink. To purchase, fill out the order form and turn in by May 1st. Proceeds benefit our student repertory company Dance FX. Please keep all food and beverage in the lobby.

PERFORMANCE DAY PROCEDURES

Dancers in 1st half only:

• Check in at the backstage doors 30 minutes prior to show time (20 minutes early for Pre Dance students). You will receive a card with pick-up instructions.

• For the 2nd half of the performance, volunteers will escort dancers to the supervised student seats in the balcony. You will pick up your dancer in the balcony at the end of the show. Pre Dance students will be released to parents through the doors to the left of the stage AT INTERMISSION. Please wait for us to announce your class.

Dancers in 2nd half only:

• Check-in at the inner lobby by the balcony stairs at the beginning of the show. You will receive a card with pick-up instructions.They will watch the 1st half of the show in the supervised student seats in the balcony and then be escorted backstage at the appropriate time. (If you buy seats for them, check them in at the backstage door at intermission. Please notify the lobby check-in desk that your child will be sitting with you.)

• Your child will be dismissed off of the stage at the end of the show. You will need the pick-up card to release your child.

Dancers in both halves:

• Check-in at the backstage door 30 minutes prior to show time. You will receive a card with pick-up instuctions.

• Your child will be dismissed off of the stage at the end of the show. You will need the pick-up card to release your child.

Everyone:

• All students should be ready in first costume with hair and make-up done. Please have your student arrive and depart in a cover-up to remain as professional as possible. Students must not walk around in costume except in the dressing room or backstage.

• If student has a change of costume, please bag and label all items to assist backstage helpers. Please do not send any additional items, as we cannot be responsible. NO JEWELRY! NO GUM! NO UNDERWEAR! NO NAIL POLISH!

• No food or drink in dressing area except water bottles.

• No videography or photography of any kind during the performance.

• Check in at the backstage doors 30 minutes prior to show time (20 minutes early for Pre Dance students). You will receive a card with pick-up instructions.
